Lensiora TWAIN Acquisition

Support · Time to read: 5 minutes · Updated May 23, 2026

The Lensiora TWAIN Acquisition Module is the capture dialog your imaging software opens when it asks Lensiora for a new image. Use it to take snapshots from any TWAIN-compatible application — including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Schick CDR, Dexis, and dozens of other supported integrations — without leaving your normal clinical workflow.

1. Overview

The Lensiora TWAIN Acquisition Module is the capture dialog your imaging software opens when it asks Lensiora for a new image. It keeps the clinical workflow inside the software you already use — no exporting, no copy-and-paste, no separate viewer to manage between exams.

This page describes the current Lensiora TWAIN capture dialog used when your imaging software acquires images from a Lensiora camera. It is the same screen you see inside Dentrix Imaging, Eaglesoft, Schick CDR, Dexis, and any other TWAIN-aware application.

What you can do from this window

  • Live preview the Lensiora camera and confirm framing before capture.
  • Capture single images with the on-screen Snapshot button or the camera handpiece button.
  • Review captured images in the right-hand image list during the same session.
  • Hand images off to your imaging software with one click on Acquire Images.
  • Use StillVue IQ for multi-frame best-shot selection when patients move.

You can open this help page at any time by clicking Help in the capture window or by pressing F1.

2. Opening the TWAIN Acquisition window

The TWAIN Acquisition window is opened by your imaging software when you request a new image from a TWAIN source. The exact menu varies by application, but the request follows a common pattern:

  • Dentrix Imaging. Select the patient, then open Acquire from the image toolbar and choose the Lensiora TWAIN device.
  • Eaglesoft / Patterson Imaging. From the patient image window, choose Acquire and pick the Lensiora TWAIN source.
  • Schick CDR DICOM, Dexis, XDR, Sidexis 4, Kodak KDI, and others. Use the application’s Import or Acquire from TWAIN command.
  • Direct from Windows. Any TWAIN-aware application — including most imaging viewers — can request from the Lensiora source.
Note
If the Lensiora TWAIN source is not listed in your imaging software, confirm that the Lensiora driver is installed and that the system tray icon shows a dark center. See Lensiora Settings for tray and driver troubleshooting.

3. Capture window layout

The capture window is organized into three working areas: a large live preview on the left, the captured-images list on the right, and a row of action and option controls across the bottom.

Live preview area

The large panel on the left shows the live camera video. The active LIVE indicator confirms the camera is streaming, and resolution and frame rate are visible while the preview is running. When StillVue IQ is enabled, Lensiora may also display a short status message in the preview describing the StillVue IQ selection result for the most recent capture.

Captured images list

The panel on the right shows all images captured during the current session. Hover over a thumbnail to load it in the larger review area. Images captured with StillVue IQ are marked with an IQ badge. Selected images are highlighted; the selection determines which images are sent to your imaging software when you press Acquire Images.

Action and option controls

The buttons and checkboxes along the bottom control capture, review, and saving. The primary Snapshot button captures the current frame, Acquire Images sends the selected images back to your imaging software and closes the dialog, and the checkboxes toggle StillVue IQ, Training mode, and auto-save behavior.

4. Action and option controls

Each control along the bottom of the capture window, in the order it appears:

Full Screen

Expands the live preview to full screen. You can also press F11. Exit Full Screen mode by pressing Space or F11.

Snapshot

Captures one image from the current live preview and adds it to the image list. The Snapshot button matches a press of the button on the Lensiora camera handpiece.

Enable StillVue IQ

Turns on multi-frame best-shot capture. Lensiora evaluates several recent frames and keeps the clearest result. See StillVue IQ behavior for details. StillVue IQ master settings are configured under Lensiora Settings → StillVue IQ.

Training mode

Saves a StillVue IQ image and a direct capture image side-by-side for comparison. Only the StillVue IQ image is sent to the imaging software.

Save Images when Camera is turned OFF

Automatically accepts the captured images when the camera is turned off, if any images are present in the list. Useful for hands-free clinical workflows where the camera handpiece button ends the capture session.

Modify…

Opens the Lensiora camera configuration and adjustment window. See Lensiora Settings → Other options → Camera Adjustments.

Help

Opens this online help page. You can also press F1 at any time.

5. Image list actions

Use the controls beneath the captured-images panel to review and hand off the images you have captured.

  • Select All. Selects every captured image in the list.
  • Select None. Clears the current selection.
  • Delete. Removes the selected image or images from the list and deletes their temporary files.
  • Acquire Images. Sends the selected images to the imaging software and closes the TWAIN dialog.
  • Cancel. Closes the dialog without acquiring any images.
Tip
Hover over an image in the list to load it in the larger review area. This is the fastest way to confirm sharpness and framing before pressing Acquire Images.

6. StillVue IQ behavior

When Enable StillVue IQ is checked, Lensiora keeps a short rolling history of recent preview frames and selects the clearest frame from just before you press Snapshot. This usually improves sharpness compared with a single direct capture.

The StillVue IQ checkbox in the TWAIN dialog turns the feature on or off immediately for the current capture session. When StillVue IQ is active, Lensiora may also display a short status message under the preview describing the result of the StillVue IQ selection.

Master configuration for StillVue IQ — selection window in milliseconds, capture mode (best shot or noise reduced), scoring speed (1× through 8×), and Training mode — is set on the StillVue IQ tab in Lensiora Settings.

Tip
When to leave StillVue IQ on. If a patient is moving and frames are inconsistent, leave it on. If you are documenting a tooth that is already in perfect focus on the live preview, a direct capture will look identical and finish faster.
